April 22 (转)There is a pleasure in the pathless woods--Lord ByronThere is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more, From these our interviews, in which I steal From all I may be, or have been before, To mingle with the Universe, and feel What I can ne'er express, yet cannot all conceal. From "Child Harold's Pilgrimage", canto iv, verse 178,
by Lord Byron, (1788-1824)
Every word is smooth and well chosen.

There IS a pleasure deep in the bamboo forest.
There is society, where none intrudes.
I love not man the less, but Nature more. February 06 Lost love
June 23 My View On “A Psalm of Life”My View On “A Psalm of Life” Mr. Longfellow said of this poem: “I kept it some time in manuscript, unwilling to show it to any one, it being a voice from my inmost heart, at a time when I was rallying from depression.” To me, the poem is full of sunshine, encouragements, and excites you to take action. First, the poet shows his disproval to the very negative view of life in the opening stanza. It seems to me that death is not a horrible matter to the poet for “the grave is not its goal”. Longfellow soon immediately declares himself to be a believer in life hereafter. Human life, he declares, would not be life without the belief (the dream) of life hereafter. Then he expresses his vision of life in various angles, time, reality, attitude and so on. When reading this stanza “In the world's broad field of battle, In the bivouac of Life, Be not like dumb, driven cattle! Be a hero in the strife!” they remind me of a essay I’ve read. “Life is very much like a mirror: if you smile upon it, I smiles back upon you; but if you frown and look doubtful on it, you will get a similar look in return. Inner sunshine warms not only the heart of the owner, but of all that come in contact with it.” No matter when we are down and upset, and no matter where we meet obstructions, we should look on the cheerful side so that we can get it over easily. When you look at them in a positive way, difficulity and obstacles are gone away easily just like the sunshine and rainbow after the hazy and rainy days. If not, we may not recover from setback. Even yesterday was unforgettable and then future is trustfulless ,at least we have today. “Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant! Let the dead Past bury its dead! Act -- act in the living Present! Heart within, and God o'erhead!”. Live for today, not tomorrow nor yesterdays as time is fleeting. Time outweights anything in the world and that is reason why it is precious and priceless. We should take it seriously for it is gone as the river of no return. And Robert M. Young talks about “People are always asking about the good old days. I say, why don't you say the good now days?” Tomorrow will be too late. It's now or never. As Babatunde Olatunji says “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is God's gift, that's why we call it the present”. Seize the time and seize the hours”. 'Life that shall send A challenge to its end, And when it comes, say, 'Welcome, friend” --Richard Crashaw can be best concluded this poem “A Psalm of Life”.A PSALM OF LIFE --生命赞歌Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882)
A PSALM OF LIFE WHAT THE HEART OF THE YOUNG MAN TELL me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is real ! Life is earnest!
Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
In the world's broad field of battle,
Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant !
Lives of great men all remind us
Footprints, that perhaps another,
Let us, then, be up and doing,
May 31 假如我又回到了童年-- If I were a boy againIf I were a boy again, I would practice perseverance more often, and never give up a thing because it was or inconvenient. If we want light, we must conquer darkness. Perseverance can sometimes equal genius in its results. “There are only two creatures,” syas a proverb, “who can surmount the pyramids—the eagle and the snail.”If I were a boy again, I would school myself into a habit of attention; I would let nothing come between me and the subject in hand. I would remember that a good skater never tries to skate in two directions at once. The habit of attention becomes part of our life, if we begain early enough. I often hear grown up people say “ I could not fix my attention on the sermon or book, although I wished to do so” , and the reason is, the habit was not formed in youth. If I were to live my life over again, I would pay more attention to the cultivation of the memory. I would strengthen that faculty by every possible means, and on every possible occasion. It takes a little hard work at first to remember things accurately; but memory soon helps itself, and gives very little trouble. It only needs early cultivation to become a power.
If I were a boy again, I would cultivate courage. “Nothing is so mild and gentle as courage, nothing so cruel and pitiless as cowardice,” syas a wise author. We too often borrow trouble, and anticipate that may never appear.” The fear of ill exceeds the ill we fear.” Dangers will arise in any career, but presence of mind will often conquer the worst of them. Be prepared for any fate, and there is no harm to be freared. If I were a boy again, I would look on the cheerful side. Life is very much like a mirror: if you smile upon it, I smiles back upon you; but if you frown and look doubtful on it, you will get a similar look in return. Inner sunshine warms not only the heart of the owner, but of all that come in contact with it. “ who shuts love out ,in turn shall be shut out from love.”If I were a boy again, I would school myself to say no more often. I might write pages on the importance of learning very early in life to gain that point where a young boy can stand erect, and decline doing an unworthy act because it is unworthy. If I were a boy again, I would demand of myself more courtesy towards my companions and friends, and indeed towards strangers as well. The smallest courtesies along the rough roads of life are like the little birds that sing to us all winter long, and make that season of ice and snow more endurable. Finally, instead of trying hard to be happy, as if that were the sole purpose of life, I would , if I were a boy again, I would still try harder to make others happy. May 20 The Day Is DoneThe Day Is Done--by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. .

I strove with none ;
for none was worth my strife . 和谁争我都不屑 Nature I loved and , 我爱大自然 next to Nature , Art ; 其次就是艺术 I warm’d both hands 我双手烤着 before the fire of life ; 生命之火取暖 It sinks , 火萎了 and I am ready to depart . January 13 The Furthest Distance in the World -----Tagore The Furthest Distance in the World
Is not between life and death
But when I stand in front of you Yet you don’t know that I love you The furthest distance in the world Is not when i stand in font of you Yet you can’t see my love But when undoubtedly knowing the love from both Yet cannot Be togehter The furthest distance in the world Is not being apart while being in love But when plainly can not resist the yearning Yet pretending You have never been in my heart The furthest distance in the world Is not But using one’s indifferent heart To dig an uncrossable river For the one who loves you
